The first Locust Projects/Hilger Artist Award Winner, Clifton Childree (Miami) will be working in the space throughout July and August towards the opening of his exhibition, “DREAM-CUM-TRU” on Saturday, September 13, 2008, 7-11pm.

Childree will transform the entire space and writes of his upcoming project: “Take a journey down a side street and find yourself at the entrance to the ruins of an old and abandoned, adult-themed amusement park once called DREAM-CUM-TRU. Nature has scraped away at the glossy paint and decomposed the wooden, collapsed structures to release a new texture, an inner life of freaky self-sufficient automata. A shell of a burnt rollercoaster, UTERUS IN UTERO. A circumcising nickel arcade game, THAT’S NUTS! Is that mechanical whore still pulling on her dress in OLD KIPPER’S WIDOW? An old bum in a top hat is showing a silent movie called CLIMB THAT POLE, IT’LL MAKE YOUR DICK FEEL GOOD. What is that brownish juice? Is that your black licorice or mine? Don’t sit there! Pipe organs in pillowcases?

Loose the handrail and get swept out to sea…”
