In November, Quiroz 108 Gallery will present STORIA, an exhibition of the Chilean artist, Víctor Pavéz. STORIA was recently shown at the IlLA. Intituto  Italo-Latinoamericano de Roma.  

This show assembles a collection of paintings, which using historiographic criteria, randomly captures events occurring between 1969-1976, dates corresponding to the artist’s date of birth and 7 years on. STORIA establishes a relationship between public history and private history.  Images in this archive reveal a crucial period in Chile’s social and political context.  In the show, particular allusion is made to the Cold War and the Vietnam War, events tied to the artist’s actual concerns.

Víctor Pavéz represents the new generation of Chilean art, marked by constant reflections on the political, social and cultural environment, a theme indissolubly linked to art’s serious commitment as mediator.

STORIA AGAIN will be on view during the month of November 2008
