ZONAMACO® MÉXICO ARTE CONTEMPORÁNEO

ZONAMACO® MÉXICO ARTE CONTEMPORÁNEO will take place on April 22- 26, 2009 at Centro Banamex, Hall D, in Mexico City. The fair´s Selection Committee evaluated nearly 150 applications and has selected 86 galleries to participate. The Selection Committee for 2009 is integrated by Patricia Ortiz Monasterio & Jaime Riestra ?(OMR, Mexico);?? Daniel Roesler? (Nara Roesler, Brazil) Thomas Krinzinger? (KRINZINGER PROJEKTE, Austria;?? Silvia Ortiz & Inés López Quesada? (Travesia Cuatro, Spain); Pablo León de la Barra? (DE LA BARRA, UK??); Ludovica Barbieri? (Massimo De Carlo, Italy).

Participating galleries come from 19 countries, such as: Austria, Denmark, Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Spain, Germany, England, France, Italy, USA and Mexico, among others. Some of them have participated in earlier editions, namely, Galería Arte Mexicano (GAM), Elastic, Kurimanzutto, De la Barra, Krobath Wimmer, Krinzinger, Jacob Karpio, Galeria Enrique Guerrero and Galerie Laurent Godin, among others.

The exhibition space is composed of three sections: The Main Section, New Proposals and ZONAMACO® SUR, curated by Adriano Pedrosa. This section will favor emerging and mid-career artists from the Southern Hemisphere, particularly those who have not had significant exposure in the Mexican scene. ZONAMACO® SUR features solo shows by 15 different Latin American artists, who have been invited to participate. Among the participating artists in this special project, we can mention: Diango Hernández (presented by Alexander and Bonin, NY); Fernando Bryce (Barbara Thumm, Germany); Luisa Lambri (Galería Luisa Strina, Brazil); Mario Navarro (Galeria Florencia Loewenthal, Chile); Ishamel Randal Weeks (Revolver, Peru); Gabriel Sierra (Casas Riegner, Colombia); Eduardo Navarro (Daniel Abate Galeria, Argentina); Alberto Baraya (Al Cuadrado, Colombia) and Juan Raujo (Galeria Elba Benitez, Spain).

Additionally, there will be a Collector’s Program, organized by Pablo del Val, which will include a sociocultural schedule with visits to private collections and museums in Mexico City, as well as dinners and festivities with international museum representatives, curators and art professionals.
